ASCEPT Education Forum Workshop

Novel ways of incorporating technology in our teaching – what works and what doesn’t

Date: Sunday December 4, 2011 Time: 1.30pm - 5.00pm
Venue: Perth Convention Centre
Cost: Complimentary

This session will enable interaction between the teaching groups of the two societies to identify common issues and ways that we may be able to work together to address these. In addition, this workshop aims to showcase ways that technology can be incorporated into classroom and practical teaching to engage students and improve learning outcomes. It is hoped that these talks will stimulate discussion about advantages and potential pitfalls of using available technologies in the teaching of pharmacology (and physiology).

1.30pm – 1.45pm Informal meet and greet
1.45pm – 3.00pm ASCEPT Education Forum and AuPS Education SIG meeting
3pm – 3.30pm Lynette Fernandes (UWA) – Using online resources to support responsible conduct in learning and teaching in Pharmacology.
3.30pm – 4pm Scott Smid (Uni Adelaide) – Development of discipline specific teaching tools based on LabTutor to improve practicum delivery.
4.30pm – 5pm Ian Musgrave (Uni Adelaide) – Pharmacology Spicks and Specks
