FASTS Election
As part of the FASTS Annual General Meeting on 19
November, there will be an election for some office holders on Executive. It
would be good if societies can consider possible candidates.
This year the following positions are to be voted on
- Vice-President (2 year term)
- Treasurer (2 year term)
- Ordinary Member (1 year term)
- Person representing early career scientists (1
year term)
The positions already voted in for 2008 are:
- President - Ken Baldwin
- Secretary - Charles Drew
- Policy - Ruth Foxwell
The executive meets once a month by phone hook up and attend Board meetings
three times a year.
The key rules of the elections are:
- Nominations will only be accepted from those
persons who hold current financial membership of an ordinary member of the
Association.
- Nominations of candidates for election as
office-bearers of the Executive or to other Executive positions
- must be made in writing,
signed by 2 persons who have financial membership in either the same
ordinary member or of two different ordinary members of the Association
and must be accompanied by the written consent of the candidate together
with supporting material provided by the candidate; and
- must be given to the
Secretary of the Association not less than 14 days before the date fixed
for the Annual General Meeting at which the election is to take place.
- The Secretary will ensure that all members who
are eligible to vote under these rules receive electronic or postal
notification of all nominees and a copy of each candidates'
supporting material as soon as practical after the closing date for
the acceptance of nominations has passed.
