Professor Michael Roberts
Professor Roberts DSc MBA is a NHMRC SPRF and Director of The University of Queensland’s Therapeutics Research Unit (TRU) based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH). TRU is a group of more than 30 researchers focussed on clinical drug development and improving quality use of medicines. He has more than 250 peer reviewed research publications > (480 communications in total, including 36 book chapters) plus co-editor of two research books, the second editions of which are in an advanced stage and is a former councillor of ASCEPT. Mike is a Professor at the University of Queensland, adjunct Professor in Pharmacokinetics at the University of Canberra and a Visiting Professor to the University of Lyon (France) and a registered Qld pharmacist. He was awarded the Australasian Pharmaceutical Science Association (APSA): APSA Achievement award "for outstanding achievements in pharmaceutical science" in 2004 and is a past president of APSA. He is also: Associate Editor of Skin Pharmacology and Applied Physiology and a Member of Editorial Boards for Journal of Pharmacokinetics & Pharmacodynamics, Current Drug Delivery, Clinical Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics and Pharmaceutical Research. He is the Co-Chair of Gordon Research Conference on Barrier Function of Mammalian Skin and of the ISP/AAPS Skin Frontier meeting being held in Rhode Island and Washington DC, respectively, in Aug 2007. He chaired the World Health Organisation (WHO) Committee’s International Program on Chemical Safety Environmental Health Committee Report on Dermal Absorption (2006), was a member of the European Scientific Committee on Consumer Products in 2005 and a Peer Consultant Health Canada on Risk Assessment of Consumer Dermal Health Products in 2002. He is a current member of the Australian Drug Evaluation Committee (Pharm) Committee (2004 -2009), the Australian Government’s Advisory Group on Chemical Safety and the NHMRC Advisory Committee on Health & Nanotechnology.
