The ASCEPT Fellowship is the highest honour our Society can bestow, it recognises sustained and distinguished service to ASCEPT. Our Fellows have made significant contributions to the Society and to the advancement of pharmacology and toxicology. We are excited to announce our two newest Fellows Professor Danijela Gnjidic and Professor Arthur Christopoulos, both of whom received the honour at the recent WCP2026 conference in Melbourne. Professor Danijela Gnjidic FASCEPT, The University of Sydney
Professor Gnjidic is a globally recognised leader in clinical pharmacology whose research has advanced medicines optimisation and deprescribing, improving the safe use of medicines for older people in Australia and around the world. As ASCEPT’s youngest President and only the second woman to hold the role, she championed landmark governance and equity reforms, while her leadership of Australia’s first NHMRC-approved opioid deprescribing guideline and internationally influential research have helped shape policy, practice and the future of our discipline.
Professor Arthur Christopoulos FASCEPT
Professor Christopoulos is internationally renowned for pioneering the field of GPCR allosteric pharmacology, discoveries that have reshaped our understanding of drug action and opened new avenues for therapeutics worldwide. A Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, internationally recognised Highly Cited Researcher, former ASCEPT Rand Medallist and ASCEPT Lecturer, and one of Australia’s most decorated pharmacologists, he has combined landmark scientific achievement, inspirational mentorship and extraordinary service to elevate Australasian pharmacology on the global stage.
